St. John’s Co Cathedral – The cathedral was constructed between 1573
and 1577 and inside you will see amazing paintings, carvings and
tombstones. It contains two Caravaggio masterpieces and a huge
collection of other artwork from various artists. Do not forget to
check out the museum where you can get to see Flemish tapestries,
sacred vestments and other valuable art pieces. To maximize your

Casa Rocca Piccola – This is the ancestral home of the 9th
century Marquis de Piro and his family. This 16th century palace
contains the riches and furnishings of the family and is still
inhabited by the de Piro family until today. You can visit the
garden, summer and winter dining rooms, the bomb shelters used
during the 2nd World War and centuries old artifacts. This will give
you an exquisite look into the old nobility that is intertwined with
Malta.
Popeye Village Fun Park – If you are traveling to Malta with
children or if you are simply a child at heart, you should not miss
going to this place. You will get to meet the famous cartoon
character, Popeye the Sailor, take a boat ride and explore the small
fun park with rides for kids. The Fun Park is located on the film
set of the 1980 musical production of Popeye. The best time to visit
is during the summer when there are more rides and features that are
open.
Must try in Malta
- Try the hot pastizzi. It is also known as cheesecakes although
it has no resemblance to what is ordinarily known cheese cakes.
These pastizzis are available from hot snack take away outlets in
most villages often called as Maxims. It is a folded pastry filled
with ricotta cheese mix or pea mash that is very delicious
especially when eaten straight from the oven.
- Gbejniet (g bay nit). This is a soft little cheeselets made
from goats cheese. They are available plain or peppered that are
perfect for salads, sandwiches and pasta sauces
- Catch the bus. The public transport in Malta is cheap and is a
real attraction to the tourists.
- Ride a Karozzin. This is a traditional horse and carriage ride
in Malta and is great alternative to a cab. The rides may not be
cheap but it is definitely a wonderful and unique way to spend a
couple of hours sight seeing and picture taking.
- Watch glass blowing. You can visit shops that sell glass wares
that are completely mouth blown and hand made. Not only can you
observe the glass blowers work but they can also create customized
blown glass souvenirs with your name engraved on it.
